HappySun is the new innovative app that measures exactly how much sun exposure your skin can safely take before you start to burn. HappySun is your own personal ‘sun consultant’ that makes sunbathing safe. HappySun is unique because it provides personal tanning advice which is tailored to every user.

HappySun uses up-to-the minute information from weather satellites across the world to measure exactly how much UV ground radiation there is where you are. It takes you through a scientifically based set of questions to determine your skin type. Using this information, plus your location it tells you exactly how long you can stay safely in the sun, and what kind of sunscreen you need.

Set a timer and let Happy Sun work out exactly how many UV rays your body is soaking up. Then, when it’s time to come out of the sun - the alarm will remind you. And because HappySun is in constant touch with the satellites, if the weather changes HappySun’s advice to you will change.

The service currently covers Europe, Africa and part of Brazil.

Happy, safe sunbathing !

HappySun has been developed thanks to the collaboration with the following health organisations:

A preliminary inter-comparison between HappySun’s satellite-derived data and UV ground-based data in UK has been performed in collaboration with Public Health England (PHE). Its results have been presented by siHealth and PHE at the international scientific conference ”ESA Living Planet Symposium 2016” in Prague (Czech Republic) on 9th – 13th May 2016 (http://lps16.esa.int/page_session190.php#892p).
